2010 PAINTING WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
Ken Wallin will be providing 3 dynamic workshops on beautiful St. Simons Island, Georgia. Each workshop will take place on Wed., Thur., and Friday of the week at his studio and gallery in Redfern Village. Workshop information is outlined below. Please contact Ken if you have any questions or an equipment list. Each participant to bring their own paints, brushes, medium, and painting surface. An easel, table, and glass palette will be provided for working in the studio. If painting outside for a day, bring an outdoor easel or use one of Ken’s from his studio. Ken encourages stretched canvas sizes 8x10 or 12x16. Panels are welcome. Ken can provide an equipment list for all artists attending. Please note that other workshops for 2010 will be scheduled in other locations of the US.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN: Ken workshops are highly instructional. Each morning Ken will begin by providing a detailed demonstration of a painting to communicate the learning for the day. Structured exercises and activities will follow. Afternoons are more for independent practice with individual assistance from Ken for each artist. Critiques are conducted on a regular basis and a strong feature of learning the painting concepts.
WORKSHOP #1: PAINTING WILD LIFE AND THE COASTAL LANDSCAPE
WORKSHOP DATE: March 17, 18 & 19. 2010
LOCATION: Ken’s studio and gallery, St. Simons Island, GA
ITINERARY: 2 days in the studio and one day outdoors. We will be painting the local landscape and marine subject matter. Egrets, Blue Herons and other local habitat will be included in the composition. Participants will learn how to incorporate local subjects to enhance story telling in their art. Palette knife and brush will be the focus with moving, pushing and smearing paint in a creative and interesting fashion. Color mixing and value concepts will be emphasized. Group social to be announced for one of the days. Ken will provide reference photos.
COST: $400 Nonrefundable down payment due of $100 to secure a slot. Balance due at time of workshop.
WORKSHOP #2: PUTTING COLOR AND PASSION IN YOUR ART
WORKSHOP DATE: June 2, 3 and 4, 2010
LOCATION: Ken’s studio and gallery on St. Simons Island, GA
ITINERARY: We will be in the studio all 3 days of this workshop. Participants will learn color mixing, color matching to enhance interest and passion in their art. Subjects will include but not limited to florals, fields of flowers, colorful buildings, cafes and people sitting at cafes. In general, any subject that focuses on color and value. Group social to be announced for one of the days. Ken will provide reference photos for painting subjects.

WORKSHOP #3: PAINTING WATER AND MARINE LANDSCAPE
WORKSHOP DATE: November 10, 11 & 12, 2010
LOCATION: Ken’s studio and gallery on St. Simons Island, GA
ITINERARY: We will be in the studio 2 days and in the field 1 day. Participants will learn how to use reflection, movement and transparency in creating scenes where water is a major focus. Subject matter to include marshes, dunes, harbors and scenes with boats. Ken will demonstrate how to use the palette knife to create movement with lots of paint to enhance interest in the marine subject matter. Group social to be announced. Ken to provide reference photos.
